Celebrating Professional Pet Sitters Week 202

The 31st annual Professional Pet Sitters Week takes place next week! This special observance, introduced by Pet Sitters International (PSI) in 1995, honors the dedicated individuals who provide professional in-home pet care services. As professional pet sitters and longtime PSI members, we’re honoring the unsung heroes of pet care. We’re recognizing our exceptional dog walkers and pet sitters who enhance the lives of pets and their families every day. We’re wishing our outstanding team a Happy Professional Pet Sitters Week 2025 by singing their praises!

The roots of Professional Pet Sitters Week trace back to Patti J. Moran, who started her own pet-sitting business in 1983. At the time, professional pet sitting was an unheard-of service. Moran’s passion for pets and her innovative business idea led her to create Pet Sitters International in 1994.

PSI introduced Professional Pet Sitters Week in 1995 with three primary goals:

  1. To honor professional pet-care providers

  2. To educate pet owners about the advantages of in-home pet care

  3. To encourage pet lovers to explore professional pet sitting as a viable career

Over the past three decades, this annual observance, which occurs annually during the first week of March, has grown in significance, highlighting the crucial role that professional pet sitters play in the lives of pets and their owners.

At Park Cities Pet Sitter, our dog walkers and pet sitters go above and beyond to provide exceptional care that truly enhances the lives of pets and their families:

Peace of Mind

Our professional pet sitters offer pet owners the assurance that their beloved companions are receiving high-quality care in the comfort of their own homes while they’re away. This peace of mind is invaluable, allowing pet owners to focus on work and travel without worry.

Our sitters take the time to learn each animal’s specific needs, preferences, and routines, ensuring that pets receive personalized attention and care. We understand that every pet is unique and that a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t provide optimum care.

Mental and Physical Stimulation

Our dog walkers provide crucial exercise and outdoor time, keeping pets physically fit and mentally stimulated. This regular activity can help prevent behavioral issues that often stem from boredom or lack of exercise. They also boost pets’ overall health and well-being, extending your pet’s lives and ensuring quality of life in all their life stages.

By providing care in the pet’s familiar environment, we minimize the stress often associated with boarding facilities or kennels. This is particularly beneficial for older pets or those with anxiety issues. We also eliminate the stress of having to transport pets to and from boarding facilities, doggy daycare, etc. By coming to you, you don’t have to worry about spending extra time on the road before and after work or travel.

Medication Administration

Our trained sitters administer medications and help pet parents monitor health conditions, ensuring continuity of care when families are at work, school, or traveling. We will work together with you and your veterinary team to ensure that your pet, no matter their species, gets the medications they need when in our care. We also do all we can to ensure your pet’s comfort when being given medications.

Home Security

While caring for pets, our sitters also keep an eye on clients’ homes, collecting mail and packages, providing a lived-in appearance, and alternating lights and blinds. These tasks add an extra layer of home security and keep pets safe while they remain in your home.

Our team’s flexibility in scheduling allows pet parents to respond to life’s unexpected changes and challenges. Whether families are welcoming a new baby or traveling to say goodbye to a loved one, or anything in between, our sitters come together to support families by caring for their pets when they cannot.
